The second part of my trip took place on the lush island of Kauai. Although the plane ride from Oahu to this island is only twenty-seven minutes, the overall environment was completely different. Personally, I felt that Kauai was more scenic and encouraged visitors to explore its natural wonders, rather than tourist attractions. There is a main highway in Kauai which stretches the majority of the island and takes you to all the places to visit.

As I was standing out on a pier, I observed this young lad flaunting his catch to his friends. At first I thought he was rejoicing over the fact that he caught a fairly large fish, but as I came in for a better look, the large fish turned out to be a small hammer head shark. Badass. I think this fellow outweighs the iguana-man photo that I took in Florida.

The very last place we visited before leaving Hawaii was Nawiliwili Bay. As my girlfriend and I enjoyed the beach for the last time, we found locals digging a trench to allow a small reservoir to drain into the ocean. The water began flowing so fast that the canal produced waves, and proved to be a perfect solution for boogie boarders.
