CONQUERING DIABLO DROP OFF

CONQUERING DIABLO DROP OFF

Earlier this year, we planned a great escape into the Anza Borrego dessert to celebrate the super bloom. After an extended rainy season, flowers of all species covered the desert floor. We were hoping to find plenty of off road trails, and base camp along the way. With our expectations low and excitement high, we began our tour in the early morning and headed east. After a few hours on the trail, we reached our first benchmark: “Diablo Drop Off”. This section of the trail was a steep and rutted descent down the side of a sandstone cliff. The three of our trucks successfully crawled our way down the trail and made our way into Fish Creek Wash. From there we headed into Ocotillo Wells and found a clearing to have lunch. By the afternoon, we had trekked into Font’s Point to watch the sunset. We made camp at a nearby wash and enjoyed each others company for the rest of the night. In the morning, we made breakfast before playing with our trucks one last time at Truckhaven offroad playground.
