ANZA ADVENTURE

ANZA ADVENTURE

In the summer of 2010, I ventured out to the Anza Borrego desert for the first time in search of one of the greatest places to view a meteor shower: Fonts Point. Unknowingly, I would never make it to my final destination, as the group I was with got stranded in some soft sand on our way there. Our simple plan to view a meteor shower turned into a rescue mission, and our adventure was cut short. The experience left a lasting impression with me, but I was determined to make it to Fonts Point in the future.

Fast forward seven years, and the opportunity to visit Fonts Point came about in an impromptu camping trip to the Anza Borrego desert. Over the last several years, Iris and I have have been trying to make more time for short weekend getaways, and this desert trip sounded like our cup of tea. Our first stop was Fonts Point, and made it there without a hitch. Our trip continued east towards Ocotillo Wells, where we drove through the canyons of Fish Creek Wash and Sandstone Canyon.
