HI LIFE: ISLAND GRUB

HI LIFE: ISLAND GRUB

I’m going to wrap up the Hawaii coverage with pictures of some the food that we ate while we were there. I would advise viewers to navigate away from this post if you’re hungry because we ate some delicious food. I heard the seafood in Hawaii was fantastic, but I would know nothing about that since I’ve been allergic to it my entire life. If you’re hoping to see some amazing ahi photos, or pictures of infamous shrimp trucks, you won’t be finding any of that here. On to the pictures!

Our hotel gave us vouchers to their breakfast buffet, and we took full advantage of what they had to offer.

I’m not usually one to order “wraps”, but this one sounded quite appealing with mango-pineapple aioli, and steamed tofu.

One of our tour guides insisted that we try a “puka dog”, which was essentially a spicy hot dog inserted through a sweetened dinner roll and complimented with sweet mustard. Not bad at all.

Gotta do the shaved ice. This particular flavor is vanilla snow on top of macadamia nut ice cream.

World famous Malasada’s from Leonard’s after an adventurous moped ride. A malasada is essentially a cream-filled Chinese donut.

And lastly, a loco moco, which was the first time I had ever had it. This loco moco was a specialty dish and differs from a traditional loco moco because it was served with kalua pork under the eggs instead of hamburger patties. A fantastic dish nonetheless, and a great way to end the trip.
